She studied at the Riga Jewish primary school from 1938 to 1941. In 1941 she was evacuated to Samarkand, where she attended a local school until 1945. After returning to Riga, she studied at Secondary School No. 15 (1945–1949) and completed an evening school for working youth in 1949.

From 1949 to 1954 she worked as a trainee and then as a worker at the industrial combine of the Stalin District of Riga. In 1954 she worked as a cutter at the artel “Stakhanovietis”, and later as a cutter at the artels “Uzņēmība” (1964) and “Sacensība” (1954–1956). In 1956 she worked at the Dynamo ski factory, and in 1957–1958 at the training and production combine of the Society of the Deaf.

She was employed as a seamstress at the Household Services Combine of the Lenin District of Riga (1958), then as a trainee at a sewing and knitwear factory (1958–1959), and as a worker at the Fantāzija factory (1959). From 1959 to 1960 she worked as a seamstress at the disabled workers’ artel “Mākslinieks”, from 1960 to 1963 at the Haberdashery Combine, and from 1963 to 1969 as a cutter at the Rīgas Apģērbs factory. From 1969 to 1971 she was a senior sales assistant at the Riga Municipal Household Trade Organisation, and from 1971 to 1983 she worked as a buffet attendant at Catering Enterprise No. 2 of the Moscow District of Riga.

In her marriage to Natan Iosifovich Magidenko (born 1930, Zvenyhorodka, Cherkasy Region, Ukraine), two sons were born: Iosif Natanovich Magidenko (born 1955, Riga) and Ilya Natanovich Magidenko (born 1965, Riga).

In 1983 she received permission to emigrate to Israel, where since 1974 her brother, Abram Meerovich Butin (born 1920, Dvinsk, today Daugavpils), had been living.
