Libman (Liebmann) Semyon Moiseyevich (21 January 1933, Riga) — educator.
Semyon Libman was born into the family of Moisey Davidovich Libman (1911, Saldus – 1976, Israel) and Miryama Davidovna Libman (née Fridberg) (1917, Liepāja). He was evacuated to Leninogorsk, Kazakh SSR (1941–1944). After returning to Riga, he graduated from Secondary School No. 16 (1952) and from the Latvian State Pedagogical Institute (1956).
He worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature at the Kalnciems Secondary School (1956–1959) and at the Republican Correspondence Agricultural Technical School (1959–1961). He then served as an editor–methodologist and senior methodologist at the Ministry of Education (1961–1968), and simultaneously taught at the Jāzeps Mediņš Music School.
In 1969, the Supreme Court of the Latvian SSR convicted him under Articles 162(1) and 164(2) and sentenced him to nine years’ imprisonment (later reduced to eight). He served his sentence in Jelgava and was released in 1976. After release, he worked as a teacher at Riga Secondary School No. 64 (1976–1979).
His first marriage, to Margarita Mikhailovna Libman (née Arkhiyereeva) (1937, Kyiv), was childless; the marriage ended in divorce in 1966.
In his second marriage, to Elena Aronovna Libman (née Frandlik) (1939, Kharkiv), a daughter was born — Anzhelaida Semyonovna Libman (1968, Riga).
In 1979 Semyon Libman received permission to emigrate to Israel, where since 1972 his mother Miryama Davidovna Libman (Fridberg) (1917) and his brother Marek Moiseyevich Libman (1940, Riga) had been living.
