Kodess Khiena Khaimovna (b. June 5, 1930, Riga) — sales clerk.
Khiena (Chiena) Kodess (née Levshtein) was born into the family of Khaim Levshtein (1903, Daugavpils — 1942, Staraya Russa) and Khaya Kreiner (née Blecher, Levshtein) (b. 1911, Kruk, Lithuania). In 1937, she entered the first grade of the Riga Jewish school. In 1941, she and her mother were evacuated to the Alma-Ata Region, from where they moved to Izhevsk in 1943, returning to Riga in 1945.
In 1947, she graduated from eight classes of Riga Secondary School No. 27. Until 1962, she was a homemaker. From 1962 to 1964, she worked as a factory worker at the “Sarkana Planeta” plant (later renamed the Riga Experimental Artistic Hardware Factory). From 1964 onward, she worked as a sales clerk in various retail stores — KhozTorg, TextilShveyObuvTorg, and GorPromTorg.
She was married to Shabse Kodess (1925, Riga — 1977, Riga). The couple had two children: Khaim Kodess (b. 1950, Riga) and Bella Evelson (née Kodess) (b. 1956, Riga).
In 1979, Khiena Kodess received permission to emigrate to Israel, following an invitation from her sister, Khinde Ehrenstein (née Levshtein) (b. 1935, Riga).
