Khertzfeld B. (03.04.1883, Riga) — doctor, civic figure. Completed the Alexander Gymnasium in Riga; in 1903, enrolled at Tartu University. In 1909–13 — assistant in the surgical and gynaecological departments of the city hospital. In 1914–18, participated in the war as a military physician. Returned to Riga in 1921. Founded the “Linat Tsedek” hospital and was its director. In 1928, was a candidate for the Saeima from the Jewish Democratic Bloc. Participated in organising the “Akhdut” (Unity) society; helped the Jewish theatre committee; gave lectures on social medicine problems; published medical articles. Wrote the book “Mother and Child.”
