Liepāja / Libau / Libava
Born in approximately 5575 (1815) in Pilten, where his father served as rabbi and rabbinic decisor.
He served as rabbi in Pilten, his home city, from 5610 until 5616 (1850–1856), when he exchanged his rabbinical position with the aforementioned R. Menachem Mendel Israelson, and served in the rabbinate here until his passing on Motzaei Simchat Torah, 24 Tishrei 5642 (17 October 1881).
A responsum to him was printed in the responsa Zekher Yehoseph, section 150.
