Roza Gutmacher graduated from the Kazakh Medical Institute named after Molotov in Alma-Ata. During World War II, she served as a resident physician at Evacuation Hospital No. 5804 in Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk Oblast (1943–1944), and then at Evacuation Hospital No. 3115—initially stationed in Verkhniy Ufaley, Sverdlovsk Oblast, and later relocated to Mirgorod, Poltava Oblast (1944–1946). She was demobilized in October 1946 and returned to Alma-Ata, where from November 1946 to May 1947 she worked as a general practitioner at Polyclinic No. 1. Since 1946, she was married to Mane Mendelovich Brandenburg. From 1947 to 1948, she worked as a general practitioner at the polyclinic in the village of Tastak, Alma-Ata District. On 12 October 1948, she resigned due to her husband's relocation to his homeland—the Latvian SSR. Between 1948 and 1952, she was employed at the hospital in Jēkabpils; from 1952 to 1954, at the medical center of the ship-repair and shipbuilding plant’s basin hospital; and from 1954 to 1956, at the clinic of the Latvian Industry Insurance Council in Riga.

Roza Gutmacher's request to emigrate to Israel was denied. She was awarded the medal “For Participation in the Great Patriotic War.”
