Fridman (Friedmann) Faivish (Feiwisch) Yakovlevich Faivish Yakovlevich Fridman (10 November 1908, Grīva, Latvia) — party functionary.
Faivish Fridman was born into the family of Yakov Meerovich Fridman (1875–1941), who was killed by the Nazis in Dvinsk (today Daugavpils), and Sara Faivishevna Fridman (1880–1941), also murdered there in 1941.
From 1922 to 1929 he worked as a locksmith in private workshops in Dvinsk. For his membership in the Communist Party he was arrested and imprisoned in the Dvinsk and Riga central prisons (1929–1934). After his release he again worked as a locksmith in Dvinsk (1934–1935), and after moving to Riga, at the “Latvello” factory (1936–1938).
From 1938 to 1940 he was an organizer of the Latgale regional committee of the Communist Party of Latvia in Dvinsk, and from 1940 to 1941 served as secretary of the Dvinsk city committee of the party.
During the Second World War he worked as an authorized representative of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Latvia for evacuees (1941–1942, Gorky), instructor of the Kalinin regional committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) (1942–1943), and party organizer of a special group of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Latvia (1943–1944, Kalinin region). In 1944 he was secretary of the Daugavpils city committee of the party.
From 1944 to 1960 he served as a responsible organizer of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Latvia. From 1961 to 1969 he was head of the cabinet of the Department of Marxism-Leninism at the Academy of Arts of the Latvian SSR.
In 1969 he applied for permission to travel to South Africa for one month to visit his wife’s sister, Anna Berkovna Sagov (née Ginzburg; born 1895, Preiļi), but the request was denied in January 1970.
He was married to Gesya Berkovna Fridman (née Ginzburg) (born 1911, Dvinsk). Their sons are Valdi Faivishevich Fridman (born 1940, Dvinsk) and Yakov Faivishevich Fridman (born 1946, Riga).
