Edelman Raykha Abramovna (18.11.1909, Kārsava). Born into a white-collar family. In 1926, graduated from Kārsava Secondary School. From 1927 to 1936, worked as bookkeeper-cashier at the linen procurement point in Kārsava. From 1942 to 1945, was in evacuation in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), where she worked as senior bookkeeper at the “8th of March” clothing factory. Fluent in Yiddish, Russian and Latvian.
