Edeikin (Jedeikin) Leon Yakovlevich (6 September 1927, Riga) — mechanical engineer.

Leon Edeikin was the son of Yakov Edeikin (1890, Sabile – 1942) and Mery Edeikina (1897, Liepāja). In 1941, he was deported from Latvia as the son of a major industrialist: his father was the owner of the bicycle factory “Latvelle,” which had an annual turnover of 1,600,000 lats and employed around 200 workers. He was also a prominent property owner. For his membership in the Zionist organisations Keren Hayesod and Keren Kayemet, Yakov Edeikin was executed in 1942.

Leon Edeikin completed secondary school in 1948 in Kargasok, Tomsk Oblast. From 1948 to 1953, he worked as a labourer in the Kargasok District Consumers’ Union. In 1955, he graduated from the Tomsk Forestry Technical College. In 1956, he worked as a senior technician in the design and survey office of the Tomsk combine. Later that year, he returned to Riga.

In 1962, he graduated from the All-Union Distance Forestry Technical Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering. From 1956 to 1973, he worked as a group leader at the design institute “Latgiproprom.”

Leon Edeikin was married to Rachele Edeikina (née Shneur) (1930, Riga), with whom he had two daughters: Aviva (1957, Riga) and Ilana (1961, Riga). In 1973, he received permission to emigrate to Israel, invited by his brother Iosif Edeikin (1927, Riga).
