In 1961, he enrolled at the Riga Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Mechanics.

From 1963 to 1966, he served in the Soviet Army.

Between 1966 and 1970, he resumed his studies at the Polytechnic Institute, specialising in mechanisation and automation.

From 1970 to 1972, he worked as a mechanical engineer at the Riga “Kommutator” factory. Due to his intention to emigrate to Israel, he resigned, as “Kommutator” was a defence enterprise.

From 1972 to 1979, he worked at the Central Design and Engineering Bureau for Mechanisation and Automation (CPKB MA) as a mechanical engineer, senior designer, and group leader.

While at CPKB MA, he received 12 patents for inventions in the field of pneumatic mail systems, all of which were implemented, including at the Moscow Kremlin Palace of Congresses and the Lenin State Library in Moscow.

In 1977, he was nominated for the Latvian Republic’s Komsomol Prize.

Mikhail Brodsky spent eight years as a “refusenik” and in 1980 emigrated to Israel.

From 1980, he worked in Rehovot at the defence enterprise EL-OP/Elbit as a design engineer, group leader, and department head.

In 2002, Mikhail Brodsky earned the title of Chief Specialist in the field of military avionics.

In 2007, he was granted a United States patent for an invention related to the alignment of military and civilian aircraft.

Mikhail Brodsky was repeatedly sent on business trips by EL-OP/Elbit to the USA, Chile, Argentina, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Russia, Georgia, Romania, and several other countries in Asia and Africa.

He published two brochures on pneumatic mail systems in Riga and has several classified publications in the field of military avionics.
