Aronstamm (Lipmann) Ete Naftilovna (10.06.1911, Subate)

Ete Aronstamm was born into the family of Naftil Berlovich Lipmann (1855 – murdered by the Nazis in 1941, Liepāja) and Schifra Berlovna Lipmann (1875–1931, Liepāja).

She completed five grades of Jewish school and worked as a hat maker at the Meier workshop in Liepāja (1925–1941). During the war, she was evacuated to Tyumen (1941–1945), where she worked as a nanny at an infant care home.

Upon returning to Liepāja, Ete Aronstamm worked as a hat maker at:

  • Voentorg workshop (1945–1948)

  • Gaisma cooperative (1948–1956)

  • Textile and Haberdashery Plant (1956–1958)

  • Worker at the "Liepājas Apavi" shoe factory (1958–1959)

After moving to Riga, she worked as:

  • Packer at Individual Tailoring Factory No. 1 (1959–1960)

  • Hat maker at Individual Tailoring Factory No. 1 (1960)

  • Hat maker at Individual Tailoring Factory No. 2 (1960–1963)

  • Hat maker at the Knitted and Headwear Factory (1963–1967)

Family and Emigration:

Ete Aronstamm was married to Khaim Iosifovich Aronshtamm (1905 – murdered in 1941, Liepāja). They had four children:

  • Leib Khaimovich Aronstamm (1934, Liepāja) – son

  • Shalom Khaimovich Aronstamm (1939, Liepāja) – son

  • Gennady Khaimovich Aronstamm (1941, Tyumen) – son

  • Schifra Khaimovna Shlomovich (née Aronstamm) (1936, Liepāja) – daughter

In 1981, Ete Aronstamm received permission to emigrate to Israel, where her cousin, Sara Mikhailovna Barkan (née Dagowitsch) (1910, Liepāja), was already residing. In 1979, her sons Shalom Khaimovich Aronstamm (1939, Liepāja) andGennady Khaimovich Aronstamm (later moved to the USA) had also emigrated there.
