Abramovich Bela
Born in 1912 in Riga.
After the Soviet occupation of Latvia, Bela Abramovich, along with her brothers Lev and Boris, attempted to illegally reach the border between Turkmenistan and Iran in order to make their way to Eretz Israel. However, she was captured by Soviet authorities and sentenced by a military tribunal to 10 years of imprisonment, followed by 5 years of exile.
Bela Abramovich served her sentence in Nizhny Tagil and was released in 1956, after which she returned to Riga. It was only in 1972 that she was finally able to repatriate to Israel together with her brother Lev. Her brother Boris died in prison.
