Salaspils (Ger. Kirchholm) — rural settlement near Riga (Republic of Latvia).
Known since the 12th century as Holme.
During the Holocaust, a concentration camp was established in Salaspils, where approximately 100,000 people were killed, including prisoners from the Riga Ghetto.
At the site of the camp, a memorial ensemble “In Memory of the Victims of Fascist Terror” was created in 1967 (sculptors — L. V. Bukovsky and others; architects — G. Asaris and others).
