Asare, settlement in Jēkabpils District (Republic of Latvia). From 1795 — part of the Russian Empire. In the 19th — early 20th century — the estate of Assern in Ilūkste District of Courland Governorate. In 1918–40 — part of the Republic of Latvia, in 1940–91 — Latvian SSR.
In 1925, one Jewish family (5 people) lived in Asare; in 1930 — 18 Jews.
