Society for the Establishment of Jewish Schools “Cheder

Society for the Establishment of Jewish Schools “Cheder Msukon” (“Хедер Мсукон”; Cheder Msukon) (Ebreju skolu atvēršanas biedrība).

Registered on 28 January 1925 (Valdības Vēstnesis, 1925, 17 March).

By a decision of the Minister for Public Affairs in 1938, the society was re-registered under a new name: “Riga Society of Jewish Schools” (Rīgas žīdu skolu biedrība).

The society financed and maintained the “Tushiya” grammar school.

At various times, members of the board and active participants included R. Hovsa, R. Yuter, A. Gurevich, and teachers Solomon Michelson, Moses Shapiro, Nahman Itkin, Sheina Itkin, A. Weisman, Maria Steinberg, Itsik Isyemin, Shlom Trupin, Sholom Polotsky, Liya Cherfas, Pesya Davidov, Alter Ritov, Emilia Zariņš, Srola Vainer, Sima Shklyar, Ephraim Shklyar, Artur Silinieks, and David Shver.
